☕🍻 Coffee or Beer — What Do I Love Sharing More?

Costa Rican coffee and craft beer

This is a tough question. Although so different, maybe coffee and beer are actually very much the same. A good cup of coffee — just like a well‑crafted beer — is something to be savored, tasted slowly to notice the subtle layers of flavor. Both invite you to pause and appreciate the craft and attention to detail behind them.

Whether it’s the art of roasting — the choice of origin, roast profile, and careful temperature control by the roastmaster — or the brewer’s selection of hops, the mash temperature, and fermentation time, both are beautiful crafts that resonate deeply with me. Maybe it’s my own desire to slow down, to imagine the craftspeople behind each cup or glass, and to truly appreciate what they’ve created.

But perhaps what I love most is that coffee and beer are best enjoyed with others. Morning coffee at a small corner café, a fresh cup at the organic market, a chat at a friend’s kitchen table, or an afternoon meetup — it’s always a moment to connect, share stories, and enjoy simple pleasures. Craft beer offers something similar, but often with a bit more energy — especially as the afternoon stretches into evening. And while alcohol can sometimes help people open up, it’s also a way to see people’s true colors more quickly: who you click with, and who you might not.
